About Tamilnadu college of engineering
Tamilnadu college of Engineering was founded by Lion T.N. Palanisamy B.A., MJF and Dr. P.V. Ravi Ph.D., who are pioneering educators having rich experience in the field of education.
The college is recognized by the Government of Tamilnadu, approved by All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi and affiliated to Anna University, Chennai. The National Board of Accredidation (NBA), AICTE, New Delhi accredited the UG Programmer in Civil Engineerin, Mechanical Engineering and Electronics and Communicaton Engineering from 19th March 2004.
UG Courses
Automobile
The department of automobile engineering functions with the prime goal of imparting sound and proper mix of theory and practical courses in the fundamentals and recent technological developments of automobile engineering and allied disciplines to the students, so that the students, on completion of the course, get good opportunities in industries and higher education. The other objectives of the department are promotion of research and development activities, providing consultancy services to the Industries and conducting continuing education programmes.
Civil
Civil engineering department was established in the year 1984 it is one among the oldest departments in the Non-Grant engineering institution in the state of Tamilnadu. The department is having Qualified and Dedicated staff members in diversified field of specialization. The department offers electives in advanced subjects vice GIS, FEM, Repair and Rehabilitation of Structure and Pre-fabricated Structures.
It has infrastructural facilities for carrying out various tests on all building materials, Soil and Waters samples. As an exemplary center, the department offers extensive consultancy services like topographical survey including contouring, analysis and design of concrete and steel structures, Water sample analysis and building materials testing for many private, state and central government organizations.
Computer Science
The department of computer science and engineering was formed with the primary objective of providing world class education in the field of Information Technology. One of the first departments in the state to offer a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Engineering. Right from its inception, the Department has been offering excellent infrastructural facilities with a variety of computing platforms to aspiring professional students to meet the burgeoning demands of the IT industry.
The department endeavors to produce confident professionals tuned to real time working environment. The department offers excellent academic environment with a team of highly qualified faculty members to inspire the students to develop their technical skills and inculcate the spirit of team work in them. The strength of the department is highly motivated students who understand the dynamics of the industry and hone their skills accordingly.

Electronics and Communication
The ECE Department of Tamilnadu College of Engineering has consistently served as a genesis of engineers of excellent caliber in the field of Electronics and Communication Engineering for more than a decade. It proudly savors the reputation of being one of the best departments in shaping the students for the field in which they are going to serve. As being one of the oldest Self financing institutions in this region, students of this ECE branch became entrepreneurs and corporate heads - the vivid reason being the splendid knowledge that the students are imparted with all facilities.

Instrumentation and Control Engineering
The Department of Electronics and Instrumentation engineering is the harbinger of its field and is a jewel in the crown of the Institution. We are one among the few Institutions in State growing in the field of Electronics and Instrumentation.
The current trends foretell that this millennium will face a lot of changes in all walks of life and is going to be more demanding. The competitive scenario that is emerging emphasizes the Darwinian concept of “Survival of the fittest” and this means a continuous upgrading of knowledge, skill and apt and innovative application by every individual.
Steered by well experienced and dedicated staff, the Department prunes the young minds in the right direction, so that the students emerge as cognizant candidates whose potential and skill ameliorate the present industrial scenario.
Information Technology
The Department of Information Technology was established in the year 2003 with a view to develop quality engineers to meet the current trends in the emerging world of IT. It is not based on an individual intelligence, but on the interacting intelligence of many". We have well experienced faculty members to impart knowledge to the students about the latest technologies in IT field. The IT lab is well equipped with Windows 2003 Professional & Advanced server and other necessary software.
The Department of Information Technology, with its dedicated body of well-qualified faculty, technical staff and students, is committed to be an international, multi-disciplinary center of excellence in Information Technology through education and research.
Mechanical Engineering
The Department of Mechanical engineering from the day of its inception, has been taking long strides in the field of science and Engineering. One of the oldest and active departments which anticipated the rapid developments in technology and software and provided the most sophisticated laboratory facilities & excellent infra structure. The department has well qualified dedicated enthusiastic teaching & technical staff along with staff from ISRO.
It is a discipline that finds wide scope in emerging areas like CAD, CAM, CIM, Robotics, Mechatronics, and Renewable Energy etc. The Department is provided with state-of-the-art laboratories and workshops. The Department organizes a number of workshops, seminars, conferences (university, state, and national level) every year. The students of our department have good communication and Inter personal skills. Their thoughts and creativity has yielded them many State and National level prizes.
